Individual Training Programs
Advanced Caregiver
This program is designed to prepare students to assist elderly, disabled and ill persons living at home. It will help to enhance communication skills and maintenance of a health environment and procedures for emergencies. Students will learn to recognize physical, emotional and developmental characteristics of the patients served; personal hygiene, safe transfer techniques, and basic nutrition. Learners will have to complete the program in a hybrid format, where theory (10 hours) is self-paced online and skills training (20 hours) is in person.
Nurse Assistant (CNA)
The Nursing Assistant Program prepares students to provide quality care to residents in nursing care facilities and patients in hospital settings. Course instructions are held both in a classroom setting and in clinical facilities. The course requires completion of 160 hours with 17 modules that are focused on various aspects of residents’ care, such as Patient Care Skills, Body Mechanics, Medical/Surgical Asepsis and Nutrition. The program is based on the California Department of Public Health Services (CDPH) guidelines. Upon completion, students receive a Certificate of Completion and will be eligible to take the CA State Certification Exam.
Learners will have the option to complete the program in a hybrid format or in person. Clinical training is conducted in affiliated Skilled Nursing Facilities.
Home Health Aide (HHA)
The Home Health Aide Training Program intends to build upon the knowledge, skills and abilities that individuals possess as nurse assistants. This 40-hour program is designed for those who are already Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs). The curriculum is structured to provide theory and practical application in a home setting. Learners will have to complete the program in person.
Restorative Nurse Assistant (RNA)
This is a 16-hour course that will improve the knowledge base and clinical competencies of Certified Nursing Assistants to care for residents who require assistance with functional abilities. RNAs provide follow-up and support services for the licensed Physical Therapist (PTs), Occupational Therapists (OTs) and Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) who may only be available on an as-needed basis. The content focuses on physical rehabilitation, body movements and recovery process. Learners will have to complete the program online (self paced).
ESL for Healthcare Workers (ESL)
ESL for Healthcare Workers is designed to help students build vocabulary and strengthen the listening and speaking skills that are essential to success in English-speaking health-care organizations. Students will study key medical terminology and practice using it in speech and writing. Through readings, listening activities, and discussion, students will learn how to communicate effectively with patients and coworkers in English-speaking clinical settings. This is an online (self paced) format.
CPR/BLS
The CPR/BLS course combines lectures, demonstrations, hands-on training and practice. Participants learn to recognize and respond to emergencies including shock, cardiac and breathing emergencies for adults, children and infants, heat and cold emergencies, sudden illness and poisonings. Additionally, participants will learn first aid for everything from cuts and scrapes to muscle, bone and joint injuries. Learners are required to complete this program in person.
